Projects

Over the years, I have had the chance to be involved with teaching, creating, leading many different projects in the USA and Germany. Here is a preview of a selection of different projects:

TRANS – JA UND?!

In collaboration with comic artist, Kai Egener, I have both conceptualized the programming for Trans*- Ja Und?! and taught multimedia workshops for it since 2015. The workshops are offered to trans*youth in different cities in Germany. Through creating comics and spoken word, we explore personal experiences, ideas and stories and transform them into short films and zines. Every year, we also host a week long arts and media summer camp so we might have a little more time to dive into our creative work.

Arts Corps

I had the exciting opportunity to teach for Arts Corps, a leading non-profit arts education organization in Seattle WA. Together we conceptualized a program in which 11-13 year old girls engaged with spoken word poetry and film to created their own girl empowered media to promote respect and support for girls and women in their community.

Richard Hugo House

The moment an author steps on stage they are engaging in the art form of performing. At Richard Hugo House in Seattle, WA I developed a unique workshop series that connects authors with the art of presenting their written work on stage. Authors learn vital tools to prepare for their readings and book tours.

ABQueer

At ABqueer I am the educational coordinator of an antidiscrimination project. Autobiographical storytelling is the main method we use to promote queer education in schools across Berlin.

Shut Up And Sign_Speak

Since 2010, I am one of the co-founders, artistic directors and workshop facilitators of Shut Up and Sign_Speak, a project that encourages the collaboration between deaf and hearing artists to create spoken word, hip hop and sign language performances for the stage. The goal: The development of a show that is equally accessible for a deaf and hearing audience. BR television segment on project here: https://bit.ly/handstimmeherz

HEINRICH BÖLL STIFTUNG

In collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Brandenburg, I worked creatively with youth who had spent a year learning about the ways in which Nazi Germany affected their local communities. We used spoken word, animation and photography to reflect their learning processes and created Digital Storytelling films to present at their local museum.

Academy for Illustration and Design

For over six years, I taught students at the Academy for Illustration and Design in their creative writing and presentation skills. Students stay close to the subject of their creative field, learning to speak more confidently in front of others and utilize the creative written language to promote their visual work, while learning to improve their English.

Gendersender

For five years, I was one of the co-founders, artistic directors and workshop teachers for a project titled, Gender Sender in Berlin. Through multimedia workshops in spoken word, animation, poetry, and digital storytelling, participants create stories that explore gender in creative, multifaceted, non-normative way. Stories that are like us, complex, intersectional, authentic, and speaking from the heart! The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth through the program “Demokratie Leben!”.
